What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle technique that uses soft touch to release tension deep in the body to relieve pain and correct dysfunction. It was developed by an Osteopath, Dr. Upledger, after discovering the craniosacral system while assisting during a neurosurgery. He later contributed years of clinical testing and research on the subject at Michigan State University where he taught biomechanics. Just like the bones in the spine and the rest of the body, cranial bones can also shift and become malpositioned or restricted. Though these movements are minuscule, they can have lasting effects on the body, contributing to dysfunction and disorders such as sinus problems or headache. Using soft touch, CST releases restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system.
